Buderim

History: the name Buderim comes from the local Aboriginal word 'Badderam', meaning 'hairpin honeysuckle', a plant which grew freely on the area's slopes. The first permanent settlement occurred circa 1860.

Playtime in Buderim is the sweetest of all! For fun the whole family can share a visit to the Superbee Honey Factory on the Tanawha Tourist Drive. Keep the kids entertained with mini-golf, electric cars and a merry-go-round while relaxing in the cafe. Join each other for the live bee demonstration and a free taste test of Australia's largest range of natural honey. For a round of golf with a difference, visit Headland Golf Club on Golf Links Road where golf meets nature - kangaroos are simply another hazard.

Explore

Buderim's fresh mountain air hints at the natural beauty that lies waiting for exploration. The bushwalks and picnic facilities of Foote Sanctuary provide an eco-haven of colourful birdlife and rainforest flora. The Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens offer 82 hectares of native forest, creeks and lagoons, combining nature and art by featuring sculptures and hosting cultural events. Buderim Forest Park's beautiful waterfall is the perfect end to a day of exploration. Let the flow of water wash away the day.

Local knowledge

The people of Buderim have a lot to be proud of - including their history. Take a step back in time by visiting the Buderim Pioneer Cottage. Built in 1876 this historic house is a piece of history that has been preserved and protected by the National Trust. The Cottage and adjoining museum are manned by proud local volunteers who can answer your questions. Located on Ballinger Crescent, the cottage gives visitors the opportunity to soak up some history and appreciate how Buderim has evolved.
