FAST FACTS

The Eumundi Country Brewhouse was awarded by the Australian Wheat Board for brewing the world’s first 100% wheat beer.

Yandina is Maroochy’s oldest surveyed township. The town was called Maroochie until it was named after a nearby cattle run - Yandina. This name was embraced by locals who rarely used the name Maroochie as they preferred the town’s original name, Native Dog Flat.

Eumundi at a glance
Eumundi can trick you into believing you have travelled not to Maroochy, but back in time. Its gorgeous main street is lined with historic buildings and enormous trees. The town is famous for its markets each Wednesday and Saturday and the pub on the opposite side of the street is the perfect place to spend the rest of the afternoon taking in some live music.

Yandina at a glance
The historic town of Yandina is renowned for its discrete location on some of Queensland’s prettiest land, and the world-famous Ginger Factory. The central hinterland town is rich with rainforest parks and reserves that are home to native Australian animals, and streets that offer preserved examples of early Queensland architecture. Away from the city lights, Yandina is a holiday spot to enjoy fresh air and a night sky full of stars - the perfect setting for five-star alfresco dining.

shop
Come rain, hail or shine, the famous Eumundi Markets will be on every Wednesday and Saturday. The market, established in 1979, is bustling with passionate artists, colourful growers and eccentric inventors, all selling their wares. The town’s population, usually a quaint 500, grows to around 7,000 people, who can all be found flowing between market stalls. The markets are first-class and you will find both innovative and artistic goods worthy of space in your suitcase.

With so much to do, even visitors staying elsewhere in Maroochy will find themselves in Eumundi and Yandina at some stage. The Ginger Factory is a free admission theme park that provides a great day out. The newest ride, ‘Overboard – Adventures of a Stowaway’ will sail the whole family around the world with the Gingerbread Man. Just across the street is the Nutworks Macadamia Factory where you can indulge in everything from classic chocolate-coated macadamias through to spicy wasabi - not for the faint-hearted.

Eumundi and Yandina make it easy to walk, abseil, fish or canoe your day away in the great outdoors. The Fairhill Native Plants and Botanic Gardens are a plant and flower lovers dream but also make a beautiful afternoon stroll. Views from Mount Ninderry, Dunethin Rock and Point Glorious are fantastic and the night view from Wappa Falls Astronomical Observatory is extraordinary. An exploration of Yandina’s stores will also reward the curious with fantastic antiques, hand-crafted furniture and collectibles.

local knowledge
While the Eumundi Markets are known worldwide, the Yandina Markets are a well-kept secret and the bearer of brilliant bargains. Each Saturday between 7am and 2pm, it’s the place for fresh produce and quality plants. You’ll also get some funky second-hand clothing bargains.
Yandina’s Spirit House is an award-winning restaurant and popular Thai cooking school. Learn how to cook a banquet or simply pick up some Thai spices. While Yandina’s culinary delights are attracting ‘foodies’ in droves, locals know that you don’t need to travel for miles to get a good beer either. Eumundi is home to two great pubs with at least 12 refreshing brews, one of which is the renowned Eumundi Lager.
